Friendship Reunion

Yesterday, as busy as it was, I took the time to attend a reunion of some of the women that I use to be in the same ward with about 30 years ago. Back then, we were all young and raising our children. Now, we are all grandmothers. It was both fun and a little heart wrenching as the different ladies updated us on the progress of their children and grandchildren. We reminisced about different people who are no longer with us, and updated each other on ailments and infirmities as well as new ventures such as a recent remarriage after a death of a husband. Time and maturity has a way of making one see people in a different light. In my younger days I saw them as people who were there as other mothers and friends to converse with. Now, I realize that we were forming lifetime friendships. You could feel the warmth, love and caring.
The reunion was a potluck. You would have though we were all assigned things to bring for a planned meal. We sat down to a beautifully set table at the home of one of the ladies and ate as if it was a holiday meal. Funny....there was no dessert! Awwww....I don't think anyone noticed!  I didn't until just now while typing this.
Anyway, I also realized that it is important to take the time to attend these special gatherings. As we do, we enrich our lives by surrounding ourselves with the encouragement and love of others as we also are able to express our gratitude and love for them. The group is hoping to have a luncheon once a month, rotating homes. Everyone won't be able to make it each month, but for those who are able to attend, it should be a fun time. And just knowing that I have the chance to see each of them every now and then, is satisfying.

As you can see, Kaitlyn's Party Theme was all about bunnies, and each of the kids got bunny ears and suckers that looked like bunny mouths with teeth. The other four children are Ally and Kaitlyn's cousins.

Kaitlyn loves peanut butter, so she had peanut butter cake with peanut butter and chocolate ice cream.

She seemed very pleased with all the nice gifts she received.

Attitudes Make a Difference

Generally, I feel I have made gains with adjusting my attitude and becoming a happier person over the years. Some of the things that use to get me down or I would feel uncomfortable about I now feel challenged by and even find joy in the discoveries. Though some things may appear impossible or hopeless, they are not if we face them head on. I always go back to remembering that Heavenly Father doesn't give us more than we can handle....and that all things are possible through Him. These thoughts always bring me back to a peaceful place. Where their is peace, there is happiness.

I looked up some Quotes on Attitude that I would like to share.

1. Attitudes are contagious. Are yours worth catching? 

2. It's so hard when I have to, and easy when I want to.

Expectations And Reality Rarely See Things The Same Way.

Well, my big day of rest turned out to be a  morning nap. I had hoped that the sedative would be like last time I had a root canal, and basically put me out. No such luck. Having said that, I do have to admit that the procedure turned out to be relatively simple. I had no discomfort afterward and had a good day even though I was a little disappointed in not getting more sleep than I did. The dental office called today to ask how I was doing and I was happy report that I never felt pain, discomfort or an abnormal bite. They seemed surprised! Hmmmm....They then asked if I had taken any kind of meds afterward....I told them no, I didn't need any. It was almost as if they didn't know what to say after that. That was my cue to say thanks for calling to check on me and hang up. Awww......now I need to call for an appointment to get a crown. One thing at a time.

A True Day of Rest

As I sit here feeling exhausted due to a lack of sleep, I am looking ahead to tomorrow with a rather unusual amount of excitement. You see, I will be having a root canal. You say...WHAT!?!? Looking forward to that!?!? No, but I know I will not be bothered by it because I will be sedated before hand. I have gone through this procedure before. I will not know or care what is being done inside my mouth and afterward I will come home and crash....probably sleep most the day away. Some would be bothered by that, feeling like it would be a day wasted. In my case, it will be a day of getting exactly what I need. No anxiety as my tooth is fixed, and the sleep my body so desperately needs. So, for those who will be busy scurrying about their business tomorrow, I simply say....I will be happily resting in my dreams.... Please do not disturb! :-)
