Yeah, that is me about to indulge in a bite of birthday brownie.Yesterday was my birthday. I had a very nice day. It started out laid back. George and I did a little Christmas shopping for grand kids and then went out for lunch. Later in the day after the girls were out of school, Andrea came by to pick me up to go to the coast with her and the girls for a fun over night trip. The drive was breathtakingly beautiful as we observed the sunset over the Willamette Valley and the coastal range. We stayed at a cute little beach house that one of Andrea's friends own. We got there at dinnertime and Andrea had dinner all figured out...including simple brownies for dessert which she baked fresh right there.

After dinner we played a fun game for the first time called Chickyboom, then watched the movie, "Fly Away Home'. The girls enjoyed popcorn and candy while snuggled up with mom and grandma.
This morning we were all up bright and early and decided to chance a walk on the beach. We weren't sure how cold or windy it might be. The sun was just starting to come up over the coastal mountain range as we began.
By the time we had walked to the Dee River (the shortest river in the world),
the sun was shining brightly. We did not experience the usual frigid wind that one might expect this time of year. On our walk back up the beach and to the cabin, we actually got a bit warm and Kaitlyn and I took off our jackets.

Just as we left the coast, raindrops began to fall, but we managed to stay ahead of them and had a pleasant ride home..that is until we hit Tigard....but that is to be expected.:-)
